Interest rates: How low can they go?   Well the crystal ball is a bit cloudy, but any rent being paid is unlikely to reduce!

The surprising news from the Reserve Bank in August when they cut to the Official Cash Rate 50 points has not had the increased inflation effect they expected. However good news for borrowers is that the lending interest rates have become lower and are likely to get lower. As our banks reduced their lending rates, now Economists are saying it could reignite the property market and cause house prices to increase. - That may stop the interest rates getting much lower, but there's still another OCR cut expected next month which could reduce the mortgage rates further and that may continue to push house prices higher! Regardless, the interest rates are expected to remain this low for the next couple of years and that's great for borrowers.

To assist first home buyers the lending ratios have been increased, meaning some home buyers can now buy with a 5% Deposit. So if you've have been in Kiwisaver for 3 years, most if not all the funds can be used towards a deposit on home buying. And, a first home Grant may be available. - Call us to learn more.

The New Zealand property market is performing strongly, with prices set to rise even further in 2020. With property values rising and sales numbers increasing, there is increasing pressure in heated markets due to long-term lack of supply. According to Westpac's economists, we can expect 7% growth next year alone, with the market not yet hot but heating up by the minute.

5G and Why Some People are Scared

The rollout of 5G connectivity is having a huge impact, with some people looking forward to lightning fast download speeds and others concerned about the health and environmental risks of this new technology. 5G is the latest and fifth generation of cellular network technology, and promises faster speeds, lower latency, and greater reliability than its predecessors. 5G is about 60 times faster than 4G, with better speeds and bandwidth achieved through the use of higher frequencies and therefore shorter wavelengths.
